Vintage Art Deco Tea and Coffee Set

An original vintage Art Deco coffee and tea set in excellent vintage condition. Found on board of the ship SS Normandie, an ocean liner sailing between Le Havre and New York this piece is very collectable. It was designed by Luc Lanel for the brand Christofle. Christofle is a prestigious French flatware and silverware company. Charles Christofle born in 1805, began his profession as a jeweller. His skilled craftsmanship drew the interest of Louis-Philippe I and subsequently Napoleon III. Christofle designed opulent pieces and tableware for French palaces and notable clients. The pieces are all silver-plated and the handles made of rare Macassar dark rich wood. Art deco designers used tropical woods because of their enchanting qualities. The pots have sleek cylindrical forms and flat lids. This exquisite, silver-plated piece is an effortlessly chic way to serve tea and coffee.
