Marrakech

Hero

Atelier Mayer’s desert kasbah is an oasis of luxury in the heart of the desert. The interiors melt traditional Moroccan hand craftsmanship with vintage finds from around the world. The office pays homage to the Viennese Secessionist period with chairs designed by Le Corbusier, Gustave Miklos and Josef Hoffmann, which are contrasted by a 1920s airport desk from Kenya. The living room meanwhile – inspired by the Palais Bulles Pierre Bernard and Antti Love built for Pierre Cardin in 1984 – features stencilled Strauss egg lamps and bespoke banquettes made from Moroccan tadelakt plaster. There’s a scattering of textured wool pillows made by a local women’s co-operative, and an oversized white fluffy carpet and Berber sofas by Soufiane Zarib. The doors throughout the house have been hand painted with traditional patterns by skilled Moroccan artisans.

We create beautiful spaces around the world, juxtaposing old with new, incorporating comfort & heritage
